Sea Lion Pup (Zalophus wollebaeki)
Found in the Galápagos Archipelago, Galápagos sea lion colonies are one of the most conspicuous and numerous of marine mammals off the coast of Ecuador. They are mainly coastal animals, preferring to sunbathe on sandy or rocky beaches as opposed to swimming in the open ocean. Still, they are well adapted to an aquatic lifestyle as they have streamlined bodies and powerful fins that allow the animal to glide swiftly in the water.
